Here’s your mantra for the week! This week’s card is from my The Sovereign Success Oracle deck. You can get it here or here.
Expansion.
Whenever I’m getting ready to expand, I feel it in my bones. I become restless, unknowingly searching, long before my mind catches up.
And I know full well why my mind takes her sweet time to get on the same page.
Two weeks ago, I wrote about allowing yourself to go after what you want, and what a process it can be to get to a point where you actually can. Wanting to expand – wanting more – falls under that very category.
As I wrote then, wanting things that others might not want for me slows me down. It doesn’t necessarily stop me – not anymore – but there’s definitely a part of me that’s doing its utmost to halt me in my steps.
It’s that same part that keeps me distracted from the inner turmoil I tend to experience when expansion beckons. Because, once I sit what that turmoil and ask it what the problem is, I’ll learn that I’m ready for the next step.
And that part of me, which is the ego, doesn’t want that for me. After all, the ego’s main goal in life is to keep us safe, and the ego thinks the best way to go about that is by whispering things into our ears that will make us want to play small and settle for less.
This is why, as soon as it detects anything that smells of growth, the ego will pounce. It’ll try to distract you, it’ll try to tell you you’re not worthy and capable, it will double-down on thought and behavioural patterns you’ve thought you had a handle on; all to keep you inside your comfort zone.
(If you’ve missed my musings on the comfort zone, you can read them here.)
If you’ve done the work, you’ll eventually catch on and realise what your ego is up to. If you’ve done enough work, you’ll even be able to thank your ego for trying to keep you safe and remind it that you’re fully aware of the risks and are still going to do the thing.
Or, at the very least, that you are going to explore the thing, and you would appreciate it if the ego kept to itself as you do so.
If that’s you, if you’ve been feeling that need, that nudge, to expand, the journaling exercise ‘Is it time to expand?’ I’ve created for today is for you. You can download it here.
It’s based on one of the tarot spreads from Tarot for Entrepreneurs, which I’ve included as well for those who’d rather sling some cards around these questions, and it’ll help you explore that feeling, where it is coming from, what you want more of and why, how you can get it, and what the best way is for you to go about your expansion.
Please note that the book page I’m including here is from the special edition I’ve been working on recently that might come to Kickstarter in 2025. It’s not what any of the current editions look like, although the hardcover comes close.
Happy creating, and happy exploring, this week, and if you do the journaling exercise or the card spread, I’d love to hear what came up for you <3

Does cartomancy intrigue you, but you aren’t sure where to start? Or do you own a deck but aren’t entirely sure what to do with it?
So You Want to Sling Cards, Too? is a three-week mini-course for those who are entirely new to cardslinging and those who’ve just started playing with cards.
During this live course, which consists of three 90-minute Zoom calls, we’ll move from getting to know your card deck to learning how to interpret your cards, to asking your cards the right questions.
